What are the types of universal joints?
Universal energy-saving transmits power between rotating shafts of different axes. Commonly used universal joints include cross shaft type, ball cage type and three-pivot type. The cross shaft universal joint is commonly used in passenger and trucks, and the ball cage universal joint is commonly used in cars.
Cross shaft universal joint
The cross shaft universal joint is composed of a universal joint fork, a cross shaft, a needle bearing, an oil seal, a sleeve, and a bearing cover. The needle roller in the needle roller bearing can rotate during the rotation of the cross shaft universal joint to reduce friction. The rotating shaft connected with the input power is called the input shaft, and the rotating shaft that outputs the power through the universal joint is called the output shaft.

Ball cage universal joints are divided into telescopic and fixed types according to the different inner and outer raceway structures. The telescopic ball cage universal joint is generally used for the inner universal joint, and the fixed ball cage universal joint is generally used for the outer universal joint.
The ball cage type universal joint is mainly composed of an outer star wheel, ball cage, steel ball, inner star wheel, etc. The spherical shell is the outer raceway of the balls, and the star shell is the inner raceway of the balls. Power transmission path: half shaft (drive shaft), star-shaped shell, steel ball, spherical shell, wheel center shaft (driven shaft).
